Does Bigfoot have a distant cousin living on Mars? According to the London Daily Mail, four-year-old images sent by Spirit, one of the Mars explorers constructed by NASA, contain a blurry image that could be a humanoid walking across the planet’s surface.

Scientists have been looking for signs of intelligent life in outer space for countless years, so many people obviously are excited about finding this image on the photographs. Does this mean that all the expensive equipment that NASA sent to Mars is in the bedroom of some Martian Child or currently for sale on an intergalactic version of EBAY?

While circling the world in Friendship 7, Mercury Astronaut John Glenn thought he was having a close encounter. The first American astronaut to orbit the Earth, Glenn noticed brilliantly illuminated particles surrounding his space capsule, which he referred to as “fireflies”.

During an interview with “Life” magazine, which had an exclusive contract with the original 7 Mercury astronauts at that time, Glenn is quoted as saying “There, spread out as far as I could see were literally thousands of tiny luminous objects that glowed in the black sky like fireflies. I was riding slowly through them, and the sensation was like walking backwards through a pasture where someone had waved a wand and made all the fireflies stop right where they were and glow steadily.”

KNOWING ASTRONOMY PICTURE OF THE DAY

Astronomy picture of the day service is done by NASA and Michigan Technological University. In their website each and every day a photograph of the universe is put and beneath there will be a brief explanation by professional astronomers.

Astronomy picture of the day was created, written and coordinated since 1995 by Robert Nemiroff and Jerry Bonnell. This particular archive does contain the largest collection of annotated astronomical pictures that one can find in the internet.

Bob and jerry were two astronomers who spend almost their whole life in researching the universe. The credit for all those images in the APOD goes to those institutions and owners where it was originated. Some of these pictures may have copy rights. So in order to show or use these pictures one must ask for the authorization of its owner. Again all those earlier pictures are archived. By accessing the archive page one could find all those pictures.

A person can send or submit their astronomical pictures to be shown in the internet. But the peculiarity of the picture will be thoroughly viewed before being induced. If the person owns copy right on the picture being submitted then he should have to give permission for the concerned authorities to use the picture. One can buy pictures in the APOD by visiting a site approved by NASA. On clicking on the picture a higher resolution picture can be viewed. Sometimes a higher resolution picture may be available with NASA. To view this one should follow the links provided in the text. A copy right owner can be also easily found by going through the links provided near the picture.

APOD daily pages selections have been compiled in two books namely “UNIVERSE: 365 days” and “Astronomy: 365 days”. For the year 2000-2005 APOD pages are available in the form of CD. NASA has got lots of pictures with them to be published soon in the APOD web page. So the future of APOD is still bright if we consider the availability of pictures.
